                       Dear Stylish Nerd,

Happy new year! Yesterday someone tweeted about how the day was already over and how the year has already started running fast and I realized how true it was, our clocks never stopped and we have to make the most of the time we have. Which is why despite my new-found love for Christmas Traditions and general love for festivities, I’m really glad to be back to work because those goals won’t smash themselves. Because of this, I decided to write this post where I’ll be sharing one of my favorite pieces in my wardrobe and a few tips on how to make the most of time and smash goals while doing this:

Write It Down, Make It Plain

One of the things I learnt last year is that writing down your goals and plans make it easier to achieve them because you’ll have something to refer back to and hold yourself accountable to.

Other than writing your goals for the year, it’s important to break it into bits. I’ve started a habit of writing down a to-do list every night for the day coming, and I’ll divide it into different categories like: Blogging, Spiritual etc that way everyday I’m making a positive  move towards achieving my yearly goal, whether it’s learning something new like SEO, or finishing a prayer plan.

 Create A Positive Work Space

As a blogger, content creator and Internet boy a lot of what I do involves either my laptop or phone and there’s a lot of distraction when using either devices and something as simple as a movie or an Instagram notification could set me back several hours of work hence I spent a couple of the last days in 2017 creating a little space that I’ve christened my work space, that I’ve decided I won’t allow myself indulge in certain activities like spending hours scrolling through instagram, or going through my twitter timeline but rather getting my work done. This way I’ll get things done faster and have enough time to go on to the next task.

 Cut The Negativity Out

Negative people, negative songs, negative everything. Before the clock hit 11:59 on the 31st of December 2017, I had successfully gotten rid of every useless app, person,  feeling I had because I wasn’t carrying the negativity into 2018. Useless doesn’t mean the person is bad or anything rather to me: a useless person is someone that talking or Interacting with the person isn’t adding to my life, my career, my bank account or spiritual life, and when I consider you super duper guper useless is when you actually stress me, give me a hard time, or cause drama because the time I’ll use in handling you is enough for me to read on some thing and better myself.

Move On Quickly

Don’t dwell on your failures or mistakes, don’t dwell on your messy breakup, or the rejection email you got last year. Move on. Those five minutes, one hour, one week you spent moping or feeling depressed about it, is enough to make a new move and get your life on track. Ever since I learnt this, I hardly get depressed. I learn my lesson and I move on because I’ve got things to do, money to make, people to love and I can’t be dwelling on some silly failure.

Dear Stylish Nerd, time isn’t waiting for you. So make your moves now, not tomorrow cause there will only ever be a now. I hope these tips will help us both  have a much fulfilling year!

  1. Plan is to throw out every form of negativity be it living or non living. Love your co-ord set! You’ve actually made me reconsider getting a pair for myself. Lovely post man!

  2. Me I definitely cut out a lot of negative people last year. And I totally agree with moving on quickly, I cannot come on kill my self because I’m over thinking. You look amazing, I swear I’m loving your growth!

  3. Timely read and reminder for anyone who is yet to set goals. I plan to continue with most of my goals/lifestyle from last year…Just improving on each of them..Continue to avoid toxic friendships, keep at a healthy lifestyle (with bits of cupcake and ice cream here and there), more personal development plans, keep a really close relationship with God. The idea is to live intentionally and make realistic goals. Nice print!!

    1. Exactly! My goal is to be a bigger and better version of me! Haha yes to cupcakes and ice-cream and a much better relationship with God! Thanks dear and thanks for reading!

  4. Throwing out all forms of negativity is spot on for me. It actually just spoke to me and made more sense now, this year I’m throwing out all forms of negativity. Thanks for this
